Sorting, filtering, and pagination
Control how reviews are listed in the widget
The review widget paginates so the product page stays fast even when a product has hundreds of reviews. You control how many show per page and what order they appear in.
Reviews per page
In the theme editor on the Product Reviews block, set Reviews per page between 3 and 25. Most stores use the default of 10 — long enough to feel substantial, short enough not to slow the page.
If you bump this above 15, consider keeping photos on so the longer list stays visually engaging.
Default sort order
Pick the order new shoppers see first:
- Newest first (default) — shows the most recent reviews on top. Best for stores where review freshness matters (fashion, beauty, anything seasonal).
- Highest rated — leads with 5-star reviews. Best when you want to lean into social proof, especially early on when you have few reviews.
- Lowest rated — useful for transparency-first brands. Rarely the right choice for conversions.
The default sort applies to the first page load. Customer-facing sort controls (so shoppers can re-sort the list themselves) are on the roadmap.
Pagination behavior
The widget uses numbered page buttons at the bottom of the list. Clicking a page number:
- Loads that page's reviews via AJAX (no full page reload)
- Smoothly scrolls back to the top of the widget so shoppers can see the new reviews
This pattern works well on both desktop and mobile and avoids the "infinite scroll on a product page" anti-pattern that hurts page performance.
