How reviews work
Verified purchases, moderation, and where reviews show up
Reviews collected by this app are stored on your Shopify store as native review records, so they survive even if you uninstall and reinstall. Each review has a status, a star rating, optional title and body, and optional photos. The app handles where they show, when they're published, and how customers are asked to submit them.
Verified purchase vs. unverified
A review is verified when the email used to submit it matches an order on your store. Two paths get there:
- Email request flow — the customer clicks the secure link in the post-purchase email. The review is automatically tied to their order and marked verified.
- Storefront form — anyone can submit a review on a product page. If the email they enter matches an existing order, it's marked verified. Otherwise it shows without the badge.
The Verified badge appears next to the reviewer's name in the widget. It's one of the strongest social proof signals you can show shoppers.
The moderation queue
Every submitted review starts as pending in your admin. You can:
- Approve — moves it to approved and publishes it to the storefront
- Reject — keeps it private and hidden
- Edit — fix typos or remove personal info before publishing
- Reply — write a public response that shows under the review
Turn on Auto-publish in settings if you want reviews above a certain rating to skip the queue.
Where reviews show up
Reviews show in these places once approved and published:
- Product page widget — the full list, summary stars, rating breakdown
- Star rating badge — compact stars near the Add to Cart button
- Collection page badges — under product cards on collection, search, and home pages (via the app embed)
- Review carousel — recent reviews on the homepage or any page (if you added the block)
- Google search results — star ratings show via SEO structured data
