Photo reviews

Photo reviews are the single most persuasive form of social proof. Stores that show photo reviews convert significantly better than stores that show text-only reviews. The app supports photo uploads in the review form by default.

How customers add photos

When a customer fills out the review form, they see a photo upload field below the star rating. They can:

• Drag and drop image files directly
• Click to pick files from their device
• Add multiple photos in one review

Photos upload immediately after the review is submitted and are stored on your store. They appear as thumbnails under the review text in the widget once the review is approved.

File limits

• Image formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC
• Max file size: 10 MB per photo
• Max photos per review: 6

If a customer tries to upload a video, the form rejects it gracefully — video review support is on the roadmap.

How photos show on the storefront

In the product reviews widget, photo thumbnails appear in a row under the review body. Clicking any thumbnail opens a full-size lightbox overlay (click anywhere to close, or press Escape).

In the review carousel, the first photo is used as the card's hero image — pick reviews with strong photos to surface in the carousel.

Encouraging more photo reviews

The most effective lever: turn on the photo review discount. Customers who include a photo automatically receive a unique discount code in their thank-you. The conversion lift from this single setting often justifies the discount cost.
