AI review summaries

Show a paragraph summarizing what customers commonly say about each product

Once a product has a handful of reviews, the app can automatically generate a short paragraph summarizing what customers commonly say about it. This shows at the top of the reviews widget so shoppers get the gist without reading every review.

What the summary looks like

The summary is a 2–3 sentence paragraph that reads naturally — for example:

"Most customers love the fit and the bold colors, though several mention the sizing runs small. Returning buyers consistently praise the quality and recommend ordering one size up."

It's drawn from the actual review content, so it stays accurate to what customers wrote. Sentiment, common themes, and recurring praise or complaints all show through.

When summaries appear

A summary is generated only when a product has enough reviews to summarize meaningfully — typically at least 5 approved reviews. Below that, the widget doesn't show a summary at all (no point summarizing 1 review).

Refresh schedule

Summaries refresh:

  • The first time a product crosses the minimum review threshold
  • Whenever a new approved review comes in (with throttling so it doesn't refresh on every single review)
  • On demand from the product detail page in your admin

You don't need to do anything to trigger them.

What gets summarized

Only approved, published reviews count. Pending and rejected reviews are ignored — you won't accidentally surface content from reviews you chose to hide.

When summaries are hidden

The summary won't show if:

  • Fewer than 5 approved reviews exist
  • All approved reviews are too short to summarize (one-word reviews)
  • The summary couldn't be generated for any reason (silent fallback — the widget just skips the summary section)
