Auto-publishing reviews
Skip manual approval for high-rated reviews
Manually moderating every review is a chore once you're getting more than a few a week. Auto-publish lets reviews above a star rating you choose go live immediately, while keeping lower-rated reviews in the queue for you to handle personally.
Turning auto-publish on
In the app, go to Settings > Reviews and toggle Auto-publish reviews on. Then pick the Minimum rating to auto-publish — the most common choice is 4 stars and above.
With this setting:
- 5★ and 4★ reviews → auto-approved, instantly visible on the storefront
- 3★, 2★, 1★ reviews → queued for moderation as usual
Why low-rated reviews stay queued
Not because you should hide them — keeping a mix of ratings actually builds trust. The queue is there so you can:
- Reply publicly to a low rating before it goes live (turns a negative into a save)
- Reach out privately to make it right (refund, replacement, apology)
- Verify the reviewer wasn't a competitor or a bot
- Spot a real product quality issue that needs fixing
A common workflow: get the alert email for negative reviews (see Merchant notifications), reply within a day, then approve.
Picking the right threshold
- 5 stars only — strictest. Only the rave reviews auto-publish; everything else waits.
- 4 and above — recommended default. Most positive reviews go live fast; you still see anything that might need a response.
- 3 and above — looser. Use this if you have a high-volume store and want minimal moderation.
- All ratings — same as turning auto-publish off entirely.
Auto-publish doesn't override your decision
Once a review is auto-published, you can still unpublish, edit, or delete it like any other review. Auto-publish only changes whether it appears on the storefront immediately or waits for you.
