Redirect Not Created
Why the Redirect button is disabled or Shopify rejected a redirect
If the Redirect button doesn't work or Shopify rejects a redirect, here's why.
You've used this month's redirects
The Free plan includes 25 redirects a month; paid plans have unlimited redirects. When the allowance is used up you'll see You have used this month's redirects. It resets at the start of each calendar month, or you can upgrade from Settings > Billing.
The link points to another website
Only paths on your own store can be redirected. Links to other websites show External; fix them by editing the page that links there and removing or updating the link.
The target isn't valid
Redirect to must be a path on your store starting with / (for example /collections/sale) or a full https:// address.
Shopify rejected the redirect
If you see Shopify did not create the redirect, the message includes Shopify's reason. The most common one is that a redirect for that path already exists. Check Online Store > Navigation > URL redirects in Shopify, where you can edit or delete it.
Visitor 404s aren't appearing
- The SEO Turbo app embed must be on in your live theme.
- Track pages visitors cannot find must be on in Settings.
- Your store must be open. Password-protected stores don't report visitor 404s.
- Some paths are never recorded, such as bot probes and customer account or order pages. See Visitor 404 Tracking.
