Install Cookie Bar and turn on the cookie banner

Cookie Bar shows a cookie consent banner on your storefront so shoppers can accept or decline cookies, in line with GDPR, CCPA and similar privacy rules.

Install the app

Install Cookie Bar from the Shopify App Store. Once installed, the app opens in your Shopify admin and the setup guide on its home page walks you through the rest.

Turn on the banner

  1. In the setup guide, select the button to open the theme editor. It opens App embeds with Cookie Bar selected.
  2. Turn on Cookie Bar and select Save.
  3. In the same panel, choose the banner style (sticky bar or overlay), its position and alignment, and its colours.

Make sure the banner can appear

Shopify shows a consent banner only to shoppers in regions where you limit data collection. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Preferences and set Customer privacy to limit data collection for the regions you sell to. Without it, the banner stays hidden.
