Delivery Date Pricing
Change the shipping price based on the delivery date the customer picks
Delivery date pricing lets the shipping price follow the date the customer picks in the calendar: charge more for Saturday delivery, less on quiet days, a fixed price over the holidays, or close specific days entirely. It works on top of your existing Shopify shipping rates, so there's nothing to set up twice.
Turning it on
Delivery date pricing is available on the Growth plan and above.
- Go to Settings > Shipping rates and find Delivery date pricing.
- Tick Price shipping by delivery date.
- Make sure the delivery date picker is on in Settings > Orders & Checkout. The rules only apply to dates customers choose in the calendar.
Adding rules
Click Add rule and fill in:
- Rule name - names the rule in your list, for example "Saturday delivery". With the override on (see below), customers also see it at checkout as the shipping option's name.
- Applies to - Days of the week (tick the days) or Specific dates (a from and to date; leave To empty for a single day).
- Price - Charge an amount, then enter the amount, or No delivery on these days to close them.
Click Done to close the rule, then Save. Saved rules show as a list with each rule's days or dates and its price; click Edit to change one or the bin icon to remove it.
Which rule applies
Each delivery date uses one rule:
- A rule for specific dates wins over a weekday rule, so a holiday price overrides your usual Monday price.
- If two rules of the same kind match, the one higher in your list wins.
- Saturdays and Sundays stay closed in the calendar unless a rule prices them.
- No delivery on these days closes a day, even a weekday.
- Days without a rule use your normal Shopify rates.
Adding to your Shopify rates or replacing them
By default, a rule's amount is added to the Shopify rate for that address. With a standard Shopify rate of $4.99 and a Monday rule of $3.00, Monday delivery costs $7.99.
Tick Override Shopify rates with these values to make the amount the whole shipping price instead: Monday then costs $3.00. Two things stay the same:
- Days without a rule still use your Shopify rates.
- The address still needs a Shopify shipping rate to exist. The override replaces its price, but it can't create shipping where your Shopify settings have none.
Free shipping
Which option you see depends on the override:
- Override off: Don't add the extra charge when shipping is free. When your Shopify rates make an address's shipping free (for example free shipping over a set amount), it stays free on priced dates. Paid rates still get the extra amount.
- Override on: Free shipping when a destination's subtotal reaches. An address whose items reach this amount ships free on priced dates. Each address is judged on its own items, before shipping and tax, after any discount code the customer applied. Leave it empty to always charge the rule's price.
The handling fee, if you use one, is still added on top, including its Waive the fee when shipping is free option.
What customers see
The calendar shows each day's price under the date, for example +$3 when the amount is added, $12 with the override, or Free when the address qualifies for free shipping. After picking a date, the shipping options for that address update to the date's price. Multi Ship checks the price again when the customer goes to checkout, so what they pay always matches your rules.
To make customers choose a date for every delivery, turn on Require a delivery date in Settings > Orders & Checkout.
