Shipping Goals

How the app detects your free shipping goals and how to read the Shipping goals page

The Shipping goals page is where you see exactly what the app found in your Shopify shipping settings and what each country's shoppers will be told. Because the goals are detected rather than typed in, this page is mostly for checking — but it is also where you sync, switch to manual goals (Growth and up), and read the warnings that tell you when your setup can't be represented as a simple "over $X".

What Counts as a Free Shipping Goal

The app reads your default shipping profile in Settings > Shipping and delivery and looks at every zone in it:

  • A $0 rate with an order-total condition — For example a rate named "Free shipping" priced at $0 with the condition "order price is $50 and up". Every country in that zone gets a $50 goal.
  • A $0 rate with no condition — Free shipping on every order for that zone's countries. The bar shows "Free shipping on every order".
  • No $0 rate — The zone's countries have no free shipping. The bar shows the honest message or hides, depending on your behaviour settings.
  • Several $0 rates in one zone — The lowest threshold wins, and an unconditional rate beats any threshold.

It then reads your active automatic discounts of the "Free shipping" type:

  • With a minimum purchase amount — Counts as a goal for the countries the discount applies to. If that amount is lower than the zone's threshold, the discount wins, because that is the deal the shopper actually gets.
  • With no minimum — Free shipping on every order for those countries.
  • Scheduled discounts — Listed on the page with their start date, but not used until they become active.

A discount can only ever lower a country's goal; it never removes free shipping from a country that already has it through a zone.

The Rest of World Fallback

If you have a Rest of world zone, its goal is used for every country not covered by another zone or discount. If you don't, countries you haven't set up have no free shipping and shoppers there see the "not available" message.

Reading the Page

  • Goals by zone — One row per zone: the zone name, its countries, and the goal ("Over $50", "Always", "None"). A badge shows whether the goal comes from a zone or a discount, or is manual.
  • Detected discounts — Your automatic free-shipping discounts with their status, minimum, and the countries they apply to.
  • Last synced — When the shipping settings were last read.

Sync Now

Shopify tells the app immediately when a discount changes, but not when a shipping rate changes. Rates are re-read every 6 hours automatically. After editing a shipping rate or zone, click Sync now to update the goals straight away, then reload the page to confirm.

Warnings

  • A free rate depends on weight — A $0 rate that has a weight condition (for example "free under 5 kg") is shown to shoppers as free shipping, because the bar can't know how much a cart weighs. If heavy orders would not actually ship free, consider wording in Translations that mentions the limit, or a manual goal (Growth and up).
  • Product-specific shipping profiles are ignored — Only the default profile is used. Custom profiles (for example one for oversized items) are listed as "product-specific, ignored". Shoppers with those products in their cart see the general goal.
  • No free shipping anywhere — None of your zones or discounts offers free shipping. The bar will show the "not available" message everywhere, or hide. Check that the free rate is in your default shipping profile and priced at exactly $0, then click Sync now. If the offer genuinely lives outside your shipping rates, manual goals (Growth and up) let you state it.

What Is Never Detected

  • Code discounts — A free shipping discount that requires a code isn't a goal.
  • Carrier-calculated rates — Rates quoted by a carrier are never free.
  • Rates in product-specific profiles — See the warning above.
  • Draft order or checkout-only offers — Anything that isn't a shipping rate or an automatic discount.

Where possible, express the offer as a $0 shipping rate or an automatic free-shipping discount so the app can read it. Otherwise, manual goals and country overrides (Growth and up) let you tell the app the goal yourself.
