Shopify Flow
Automate your store when a shopper creates a list
Shopify Flow is Shopify's own automation tool. Wishlist sends an event to it whenever a shopper creates a list, so your store can react automatically — tag the customer, add them to a segment, post to Slack, or send an internal email. There's nothing to switch on: the connection ships with the app and is live as soon as Wishlist is installed.
What Wishlist sends to Flow
- New list created - Runs when a shopper creates a wishlist or gift registry. Passes the list name and the customer it belongs to.
You'll find it in Flow's trigger list under Wishlists.
Build your first workflow
- Install Shopify Flow if you don't have it — it's free from Shopify
- Go to Wishlist > Settings > Integrations and click Open Shopify Flow
- Click Create workflow
- Choose New list created as the trigger
- Add the actions you want — the list name and customer are available as variables in every step that follows
Things worth automating
- Tag the customer so you can segment shoppers who use wishlists and market to them differently
- Notify your team in Slack or by email when a gift registry is created, so you can offer help with a big order
- Add to a customer segment for a follow-up campaign in Shopify Email
Why a workflow might not run
- Flow isn't installed. The trigger only appears once Shopify Flow is on the store.
- The workflow is turned off. New workflows are drafts until you click Turn on workflow.
- The list was created before you built the workflow. Flow only reacts to events that happen after the workflow goes live — it doesn't backfill.
