Installation

Install the app and activate it on your store

Short Links turns long store URLs into clean links on your own domain, so a campaign link reads as yourstore.com/summer instead of a long collection URL with tracking parameters trailing behind it. There is nothing to add to your theme and no code to paste — installing the app is the whole setup.

Installing from the Shopify App Store

  1. Visit the Short Links app listing on the Shopify App Store
  2. Click Add app
  3. Click Install app to finish

The app opens straight to its own page in your Shopify admin, and you can start creating links right away.

The quickest way to confirm everything works is to make a link and follow it:

  1. Open Short Links from your Shopify admin
  2. Click Create Short Link
  3. Paste any address into Destination URL
  4. Click Generate Short Link

You land on the new link's page, which shows the short URL with a copy button, its QR code, and buttons to save that code as a PNG or an SVG. Open the short URL in a new browser tab and confirm it takes you to the destination. If it does, the app is working.

Finding your way around

The app adds four items to the navigation in your Shopify admin:

  • Home - Your links, the metrics along the top, and the create button
  • Analytics - Click charts, top links, traffic sources and device breakdowns
  • Settings - UTM passthrough, integrations, and your plan
  • Support - Help articles and announcements

Store requirements

  • Live stores only - Development stores are not supported. Installing on one shows a notice in place of the app.
  • Any Shopify domain works - Links use whichever domain is primary in your store, including a .myshopify.com domain. A custom domain is not required, though it makes for better-looking links.
