If customers can’t see the “Notify me when available” button on out-of-stock products, there are a few things to check.
1. Check That the App Embed Is Enabled
The most common reason the button doesn’t appear is that the app embed hasn’t been turned on in your theme.
In the app, go to Settings and look at the installation status.
If it shows Not installed or Disabled, click the link to open your Shopify theme editor.
In the theme editor, find App embeds in the left sidebar and make sure Back in Stock is toggled on.
Click Save in the theme editor.
2. Check the Product Is Actually Out of Stock
The button only appears when a product variant has zero inventory and your store is set to stop selling when out of stock.
In Shopify, go to the product and check the inventory for the variant in question.
Make sure “Continue selling when out of stock” is not ticked — if it is, Shopify keeps showing the Add to Cart button and the Back in Stock button won’t appear.
3. Check You’re Looking at the Right Theme
If you have multiple themes, make sure the app embed is enabled on the theme that’s currently published (live) to your store.
In Shopify, go to Online Store → Themes.
The published theme has a green Current theme badge. Make sure the app embed is enabled there.
4. Try a Hard Refresh
If you just made changes, your browser may be showing a cached version of the page. Try opening the product page in a private/incognito window or pressing Ctrl+Shift+R (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) to force a refresh.
5. Test With a Specific Variant
If your product has multiple variants (sizes, colours, etc.), only the variants that are out of stock will show the button. Make sure you’re selecting a variant that has no inventory.
