Try-ons fail or look wrong

Why a generation can fail and how shoppers get the best results

Most failed or odd-looking try-ons come down to the two input images: the shopper's photo and the product's featured image. Here is what affects quality and what to do about it.

Shopper photo guidance

The upload window already hints at this, but the best results come from:

  • A front-facing, well-lit photo - The AI needs to see the person's pose clearly.
  • One person in frame - Group photos confuse the generation.
  • Standing, most of the body visible - Especially for dresses, pants, and full outfits.

If a generation fails, the shopper sees a message suggesting they try a clearer photo.

Product image guidance

The product's featured image (the first one) is used as the garment reference:

  • A clean product shot — flat lay or on a plain background — reproduces patterns and details most faithfully.
  • Busy lifestyle shots or images showing multiple products can lead to the wrong item being rendered.

Moderation refusals

Uploads are screened by the AI provider's content policies. Photos that appear to violate them are refused and the try-on is marked Failed in your history. This is expected behavior and protects you and your shoppers.
