Set up gift wrapping
Create your first wrapping option and put the picker on your storefront.
Gift wrapping is sold like any other product in your store. You describe each wrapping style once, and the app creates a matching product in your Shopify catalog so shoppers can pay for it at checkout.
1. Create a wrapping option
Go to Wrapping options → Add wrapping option and fill in:
- Name — what the shopper sees, and what appears on the order. "Kraft paper and twine", "Premium gift box".
- Price — what one of these costs. Set it to 0 to offer a free option.
- Image URL — optional, shown next to the option in the picker.
- Placement — whether this style can be bought for a single item, for the whole order, or both.
- Applies to — leave as Everything, or restrict the style to selected products or collections.
Saving creates the option and asks Shopify to create the matching variant. That usually takes a few seconds; until it finishes the option shows as Waiting to sync.
2. Turn wrapping on
Go to Gift wrap settings, tick Offer gift wrapping on my storefront, and choose where wrapping is offered. This is also where you decide whether shoppers can write a gift message and how long it may be.
3. Add it to your theme
From the app's home screen, follow the setup guide:
- Turn Gift Box on for your theme. This is required — it loads the piece that adds the wrapping to the cart.
- Add the wrapping picker to your product pages. Optional, but this is where most shoppers choose wrapping.
- Add the wrapping picker to your cart page. Optional, and only useful if you offer wrapping for the whole order.
About the wrapping product in your catalog
The app keeps a single product called Gift wrapping in your catalog, with one variant per wrapping option. That variant is what the shopper is charged for.
Please do not edit or delete it by hand. If you do, use Sync now on the gift wrap settings screen and the app will rebuild it.
The product has to be published to your Online Store — an unpublished variant
cannot be added to a cart. That means it is technically reachable at its own
product URL. It is in no collections and carries the tag gift-box-app, so you
can exclude it from search results and feeds if you want to.
