The delivery frequency is how often a subscription repeats — every month, every two weeks, every 90 days, and so on. You can offer a single frequency or several on the same purchase option, letting each customer pick the cadence that matches how they use the product.
Offering more than one frequency
Add multiple frequencies to one option and the customer chooses at checkout. Giving a choice tends to lift subscriptions because shoppers can match the cadence to their real usage — a heavy user might pick every two weeks, a lighter user every month.
Each frequency can have its own settings, so you can, for example, offer a slightly larger discount on a more frequent cadence.
Billing on a different schedule
By default, customers are billed each time an order is delivered. You can also bill on a different cadence than you deliver — for example, charging once per quarter while shipping monthly. This is the basis of prepaid plans. See “Billing on a different schedule” for the full explanation.
What the customer sees
On the product page, the available frequencies appear as choices within the subscribe option. After subscribing, customers can change their frequency from their account if you’ve allowed it (see “Managing a subscription”). When they switch, the new cadence applies to upcoming orders.
