The storefront subscription widget

How the subscribe option appears on your product pages.

The widget is what turns a regular product page into a subscription offer. It shows shoppers that they can subscribe, lets them pick a frequency, and highlights the savings — all without leaving the product page. Getting it placed well is one of the biggest factors in how many visitors choose to subscribe.

What the widget shows

On a product with a subscription option, the widget presents:

  • The choice to subscribe or buy once - Side by side, so shoppers can compare.

  • The available frequencies - Like “every month” or “every 2 weeks,” when you offer more than one.

  • The savings - The discount for subscribing, shown next to the price.

For products set to Subscription Only, the one-time choice is hidden and the page presents the subscription as the only way to buy.

Placing the widget

Add and position the widget from the theme editor:

  • Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize

  • Open a Product template

  • Use Add block in the product section to insert the subscription widget

  • Drag it to where shoppers will see it — near the Add to Cart button works best

You only need to add it once; it then appears on every product that has a subscription option.

Styling

The widget follows your theme’s fonts and colors so it looks native to your store. Placement near the buy button, where customers already look for purchase choices, consistently performs best. If the widget doesn’t appear on a product, check that the product has a purchase option assigned and that the block is added to the template (see Troubleshooting).
