Option groups are containers that hold your product options. Instead of adding options to each product individually, you create a group once and assign it to products. This makes managing options across your catalog efficient and consistent.

Why Use Option Groups

Groups provide several benefits:

  • Efficiency - Create once, apply to many products

  • Consistency - All assigned products share the same options

  • Easy updates - Change the group, all products update

  • Organization - Keep related options together

For example, create a “Gift Options” group with gift wrapping and a message field, then apply it to all giftable products.

Creating an Option Group

  1. Go to Option Groups in the app

  2. Click Create (or Create Option Group from empty state)

  3. Enter a group name

  4. Choose your application scope

  5. Click Save

The group is created empty—you’ll add options next.

Application Scope

Choose which products receive the group’s options:

  • All products - Every product in your store shows these options. Good for universal options like gift wrapping or rush shipping.

  • Specific products - Only selected products show these options. Good for category-specific customization like engraving on jewelry or custom sizing on furniture.

Managing Products

For specific product targeting:

  1. Open the option group

  2. Click the Products link

  3. Use the product picker to add products

  4. Remove products by clicking the remove icon

You can search and filter to find products quickly.

Organizing Groups

Keep your groups organized by using clear, descriptive names:

  • “Personalization Options” for engraving and monograms

  • “Gift Services” for wrapping and messages

  • “Rush Shipping” for expedited delivery options

  • “Custom Sizing” for made-to-order products

This makes it easy to find and manage groups as your catalog grows.
