Choosing a Map Provider

Store Locator supports three map providers. Choose the one that works best for your store in Settings > Map Provider.

OpenStreetMap

The default option. No API key required and free to use. Works well for most stores. OpenStreetMap is a community-driven project funded by donations. If you find it useful, consider supporting them.

Google Maps

The most recognized mapping platform. Requires a Google Maps API key.

How to get your API key

  1. Create a new project or select an existing one

  2. Enable the Maps JavaScript API and Geocoding API

  3. Go to Credentials and create an API key

  4. Copy the key and paste it in Settings > API Token

Restrict your API key to your store’s domain for security. In Google Cloud Console, go to Credentials, click your key, and add your domain under Website restrictions.

Mapbox

Modern maps with smooth animations. Requires a Mapbox access token.

How to get your access token

  1. Create a free account at mapbox.com

  2. Go to your Account page

  3. Find your Default public token

  4. Copy the token and paste it in Settings > API Token

Mapbox includes 50,000 free map loads per month.

Switching Providers

You can switch providers at any time in Settings > Map Provider. Your locations and settings are preserved when switching. If you switch to Google Maps or Mapbox, you’ll need to enter your API key before the map will display.
