Every shopper who leaves your store without buying is a sale you may never recover. Wishlist gives them a reason to come back — and gives you data on what they actually wanted. You can finish the setup in a few minutes.
Install from the App Store
Open the Wishlist listing on the Shopify App Store and click Add app. Approve the install when Shopify prompts you.
Wishlist opens to a setup wizard as soon as the install finishes.
Run the setup wizard
The wizard walks you through four steps. Each step has a button that drops you in the right spot in your Shopify admin.
Step 1: Turn on the app embed — The app embed runs the wishlist across your whole store: collection page icons, the floating widget, confirmation messages, and the count badge. Click the wizard button to open the theme editor, switch the Wishlist embed on, and click Save.
Step 2: Add the wishlist button block — This puts the “Add to Wishlist” button on your product pages. Click the wizard button to open your product template in the theme editor. The block is added for you — drag it where you want it (most stores place it just under the Add to Cart button) and click Save.
Step 3: Add wishlist to customer accounts — Logged-in customers get a Wishlist link inside their account portal. Click the wizard button to open Settings > Customer accounts and turn on the Wishlist extension.
Step 4: Finish — Click Complete so the wizard can verify all three pieces are active.
If the wizard says it couldn’t check rather than telling you something is missing, that’s a temporary problem reaching Shopify, not a problem with your setup. Click Retry — it usually clears on the second attempt. Nothing you’ve already enabled is lost.
Add the header icon (optional)
You can add a wishlist heart to your store header so customers can reach their saved items from anywhere. This is a separate theme block, so you add it by hand:
Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize
Open your Header section
Click Add block and pick Wishlist Icon
Drag it next to your cart icon
Adjust the size and color in the block settings, then click Save
Check that it works
Open your storefront in a new tab and run through this checklist:
Visit any product page — the wishlist button should be visible
Click it to save the product
Watch for the confirmation message
Browse a collection page — heart icons should appear on each product card
If you added the header icon, confirm it shows the saved count
If the button doesn’t appear, see Button Not Showing.
