Sidekick is Shopify’s built-in assistant, available from anywhere in your admin. Image Gallery connects to it, so you can ask how something in the app works, or ask about the galleries you’ve already built, without leaving the page you’re on. There is nothing to switch on — the connection ships with the app and works as soon as it’s installed.
What You Can Ask
Sidekick can do two things with Image Gallery:
Answer how-to and troubleshooting questions - It searches this help centre and answers from the article, citing it so you can read the rest. Try “How do I add a gallery to a product page?” or “Why isn’t my gallery showing up on my storefront?”
Report what you’ve built - How many galleries you have, how many images are in your library, and for any gallery its image count, layout, and images per row on desktop and mobile. Try “How many galleries do I have?” or “Which layout is my Lookbook gallery using?”
When you ask about a specific gallery, Sidekick can offer a link that opens that gallery’s page in the app.
What It Cannot Do
Both connections are read-only. Sidekick can tell you that a gallery uses the Mosaic layout with 4 images per row, but it cannot change the layout, add images, reorder them, or delete anything. Those changes happen on the gallery page in the app, where you can see the result against your own images before saving.
If Sidekick offers to make a change for you, it’s doing it through another part of Shopify, not through Image Gallery.
Finding Sidekick
Look for the assistant icon in your Shopify admin — it’s available throughout the admin, not only inside the app.
Open the app’s Sidekick page at Settings > Sidekick for a reminder of what to ask, with example questions you can copy.
Ask in your own words - You don’t need special phrasing or command syntax.
Privacy
Sidekick only ever sees the galleries and images belonging to the store you’re logged into. Questions from one store can never return another store’s data.
