Overview
Smart Activation keeps all your protection features dormant until suspicious behavior is detected. Normal visitors browse your store without any restrictions — locks only activate when needed. This feature requires the Premium plan.
How It Works
With Smart Activation enabled, Photolock monitors for common theft indicators:
Right-click attempts on images
Copy/paste keyboard shortcuts
Drag and drop attempts
Other suspicious interactions
When any of these actions are detected, all your enabled protections activate immediately for that visitor’s session. Until then, the visitor experiences no restrictions.
When to Use Smart Activation
Use Smart Activation when:
You want to minimize any impact on the browsing experience for legitimate customers
Your store has accessibility requirements where always-on protection may interfere
You prefer a less aggressive approach that only responds to actual theft attempts
Use always-on protection (Smart Activation off) when:
You want maximum protection from the first page load
Your images are high-value and you can’t risk any unprotected window
You prefer visible deterrence (visitors immediately see protection is active)
Enabling Smart Activation
Open the Photolock app
On the dashboard, find the Smart Activation section
Toggle it On
Click Save
Smart Activation applies to all protection features you have enabled. You don’t need to configure it per feature.
