Screen Capture

Block screenshots, printing, and detect focus loss

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Overview

Screen Capture Protection blocks screenshots, printing, and detects when visitors switch away from your store. These features require the Advanced plan.

Screenshot Lock

Blocks common screenshot keyboard shortcuts on desktop computers:

Shortcut

Platform

Ctrl+Shift+S

Windows/Linux

Cmd+Shift+3/4/5

macOS

Print Screen

Windows

When a blocked shortcut is detected, the key combination is intercepted and the screenshot is prevented.

Note: Screenshot Lock works on desktop browsers only. Mobile screenshots (using hardware buttons) cannot be intercepted by web applications.

Focus Lock

Detects when the browser window loses focus — for example, when a visitor switches to another app or tab. This can indicate they’re using screen capture tools or comparing your content with a competitor’s store.

When focus is lost and the Focus Warning is enabled, an overlay appears until the visitor returns to your store.

Printing Lock

Blocks the browser’s print function, preventing visitors from printing your pages or saving them as PDF files.

When a visitor attempts to print, the action is blocked and a warning message is shown.

Screenshot Shield (Experimental)

A fast-moving invisible band sweeps continuously across your page. It’s invisible to the human eye during normal browsing, but always appears in screenshots as a visible mark or distortion.

This is an experimental feature and may have varying results depending on the device and browser.

Enabling Screen Capture Protection

  1. Open the Photolock app

  2. Go to Settings > Screen Capture

  3. Toggle on the features you want

  4. Click Save

All Screen Capture features require the Advanced plan.
