Image Protection

Protect images with shields and source hiding

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Overview

Image Protection prevents visitors from downloading or saving your product images. Basic features are available on all plans, while shields and source hiding require the Advanced plan.

Right-Click Lock

Blocks the right-click context menu specifically on images, preventing access to “Save Image As” and similar options. This is the most common protection feature and is enabled by default on new installs.

Drag & Drop Lock

Prevents visitors from dragging images out of the browser window — a common way to quickly save an image to the desktop or into another application.

Image Shield (Advanced)

Places an invisible transparent overlay on top of your images. When a visitor tries to “Save Image As”, they download the transparent overlay instead of the actual product image.

This works even if a visitor bypasses the right-click lock through browser developer tools, since the overlay sits on top of the real image in the page structure.

Hide Image Sources (Advanced)

Obfuscates image URLs in your page source code. This makes it harder for someone inspecting your page source to find and directly download your original image files.

Enabling Image Protection

  1. Open the Photolock app

  2. Go to Settings > Image Protection

  3. Toggle on the features you want

  4. Click Save

Features marked with an Upgrade badge require the Advanced plan or higher.
