Fix the most common issue with Announcer - announcements not displaying on your store.

Quick Fixes

Try these solutions in order:

1. Check Theme Extension Status ⭐

This is the #1 cause of announcements not showing

  1. Go to Shopify AdminOnline StoreThemes

  2. Click “Customize” on your active theme

  3. Click the App embeds icon (puzzle piece) in left sidebar

  4. Find “Announcer” in the list

  5. Make sure toggle is ON (green)

  6. Click “Save”

If this was off, your announcements should now show!

2. Check Announcement is Active

  1. Open Announcer app

  2. Go to Announcements list

  3. Find your announcement

  4. Status should show “Active” (green)

If it says “Draft”:

  • Click the announcement

  • Click “Activate Now”

If it says “Scheduled”:

  • Check the start date hasn’t passed

  • Or click “Activate Now” to publish immediately

3. Check Visibility Settings

  1. Open your announcement

  2. Scroll to “Visibility” section

  3. Verify settings:

    • Storewide: Should show on all pages

    • Page-specific: Only shows on entered URLs

Common mistake: Page-specific is selected but no URLs entered

Fix: Either:

  • Change to “Storewide announcements”, OR

  • Add specific page URLs

4. Clear Browser Cache

Sometimes your browser shows an old version:

  1. Hard refresh the page:

    • Mac: Cmd + Shift + R

    • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + R

    • Or open in incognito/private window

  2. Try a different browser

  3. Check on mobile device

5. Check Scheduled Dates

  1. Open announcement

  2. Look at “Published At” field

  3. Make sure date is in the past (or blank)

If date is in future:

  • Announcement is scheduled

  • Won’t show until that date/time

  • Click “Activate Now” to publish immediately

Also check “Expires At”:

  • If date is in past, announcement has expired

  • Click “Edit” and remove expiration date

Theme Extension Issues

Extension Not in List

Problem: Don’t see “Announcer” in app embeds

Cause: Extension not installed

Fix:

  1. Uninstall and reinstall Announcer

  2. During installation, activate theme extension

  3. Or manually activate from theme editor

Extension Toggle Grayed Out

Problem: Can’t toggle extension on

Cause: Theme conflict or permission issue

Fix:

  1. Make sure you’re editing the published theme

  2. Check you have permission to edit theme

  3. Contact support if issue persists

Just Switched Themes

Problem: Worked on old theme, not on new one

Cause: Extension needs activation on new theme

Fix:

  1. Go to theme editor for new theme

  2. Enable Announcer app embed

  3. Save changes

Announcement Status Issues

Stuck in Draft

Problem: Announcement saved but not publishing

Cause: Never clicked “Activate”

Fix:

  1. Open announcement

  2. Click “Activate Now” button

  3. Or use “Schedule” for future date

Visibility Setting Issues

Page-Specific Not Working

Problem: Selected pages but not showing

Cause: URL format incorrect

Fix: Correct URL formats:

  • /products/my-product

  • /collections/sale

  • /pages/about

  • https://mystore.com/products/my-product (don’t include domain)

  • products/my-product (needs leading /)

Storewide Not Showing Everywhere

Problem: Shows on some pages but not others

Cause: Theme variation or app conflicts

Fix:

  1. Verify “Storewide announcements” is selected

  2. Check for theme-specific issues

  3. Test in default/Dawn theme

  4. Contact support if limited to certain pages

Timing Issues

Scheduled But Not Activating

Problem: Scheduled time passed but not showing

Cause: Timezone mismatch or date error

Fix:

  1. Check your store’s timezone setting

  2. Verify scheduled date/time

  3. Times are in your store’s timezone

  4. Consider activating manually

Just Expired

Problem: Was showing, now gone

Cause: Expiration date reached

Cause: Old theme version (pre-2.0)
