Understanding Analytics

Announcer tracks how visitors interact with your announcement bars so you can measure their impact and make data-driven decisions. Analytics are available in two places: the Dashboard for a quick overview and the Analytics page for detailed breakdowns.

Dashboard Metrics

The dashboard gives you a snapshot of your announcement performance at a glance.

  • Active Announcements – The number of bars currently live on your store. Click through to see the filtered list.

  • Scheduled Announcements – The number of bars scheduled to go live in the future.

  • Today’s Views – Total views across all bars today, with a trend badge showing the percentage change compared to the previous equivalent period (e.g., today vs. yesterday).

  • Click Rate – The average click rate across all active bars.

  • App Status – Shows whether the Announcer theme extension is active or inactive on your storefront. If inactive, your bars will not display even if they are published.

Analytics Page

The analytics page (accessible from the main navigation) provides detailed performance data with charts and per-announcement breakdowns.

Date Range Selector

Filter analytics to a specific time period using the preset ranges:

Key Metrics

Three headline metrics appear at the top of the analytics page:

  • Total Views – The total number of times your bars were displayed, shown with a sparkline chart for a quick visual trend.

  • Total Clicks – The total number of times visitors clicked a link on your bars, also with a sparkline.

  • Click Rate – Total clicks divided by total views, displayed as a percentage with a performance badge.

Performance Badges

Click rate metrics include a colored badge to help you quickly assess performance:

Badge

Click Rate

Meaning

Good

Above 2%

Your bars are performing well

Average

1% to 2%

There is room for improvement

Low

Below 1%

Consider revising your message, design, or placement

Charts

Two line charts (powered by Chart.js) visualize your data over the selected date range:

  • Views Over Time – Daily view counts plotted as a line chart.

  • Clicks Over Time – Daily click counts plotted as a line chart.

These charts help you spot trends, identify spikes (like during a sale), and see the effect of changes you make to your bars.

Announcement Performance Table

Below the charts, a table breaks down performance by individual announcement bar:

Column

Description

Announcement

The bar’s name

Views

Total views for this bar in the selected period

Clicks

Total clicks for this bar in the selected period

Click Rate

Performance

This table lets you compare bars against each other to find your top performers and identify underperforming bars that might need attention.

Plan Differences

  • Free plan – Basic analytics with aggregate view and click totals.

  • Paid plans – Detailed per-announcement tracking, charts, performance badges, and the full announcement performance table.

Tips

  • Check analytics weekly. A regular review helps you catch trends and respond to changes in visitor behavior.

  • Use the date range selector to compare performance during promotions versus normal periods.

  • Watch for low click rates. If a bar has many views but few clicks, try updating the message or making the call-to-action more prominent.

  • Compare bars in the performance table to learn what messaging and styles resonate most with your audience.
