Visibility and Page Targeting
By default an announcement bar appears on every page of your store. The visibility setting lets you narrow that down so the bar only shows on the pages where it is relevant. A shipping promotion might only make sense on product pages, while a blog-specific announcement should only appear on blog posts.
Visibility Options
Open the announcement bar in the editor and look for the Visibility dropdown. The following options are available:
All Pages
Shows the bar on every page of your store. This is the default and is the right choice for store-wide promotions, holiday announcements, or any message that applies everywhere.
Home Page
The bar only appears on the home (index) page. Use this for welcome messages or hero-level promotions that should greet visitors when they first land on your store.
All Product Pages
The bar appears on every individual product page but not on collections, the home page, or other pages. This is useful for product-level offers like “Free engraving on all items” or “Ships within 24 hours.”
All Collection Pages
The bar appears only on collection listing pages. Good for collection-wide sales such as “20% off the entire Summer collection.”
All Collection & Product Pages
Combines the two options above. The bar shows on both collection pages and individual product pages. Use this when a promotion applies to browsing and buying.
Specific Products
Choose one or more individual products from a picker. The bar will only appear on those product pages. Ideal for highlighting a deal on a single bestseller or a small set of featured items.
Specific Collections
Choose one or more individual collections from a picker. The bar will only appear on those collection pages. Useful for targeted seasonal or category promotions.
Cart Page
The bar only appears on the cart page. This is a good spot for messages like “You’re $15 away from free shipping” or “Orders placed before 2 PM ship today.”
Blog & Articles
The bar appears on the blog index and on individual blog article pages. Use this for blog-specific calls to action such as “Subscribe to our newsletter” or “New post every Friday.”
Theme Block (Custom)
This option lets you place the bar inside a specific theme section using a custom block ID.
Select Theme Block (Custom) from the visibility dropdown.
Save the announcement bar.
After saving, a Block ID is generated and displayed in the editor.
Copy the Block ID.
In the Shopify theme editor, add a custom block to the section where you want the bar to appear and paste the Block ID.
This gives you full control over placement. You can put the bar inside a product template, a custom landing page section, or anywhere else your theme supports blocks.
Tips
You can create multiple announcement bars with different visibility settings. For example, one bar for the home page and a separate bar for product pages, each with its own message and style.
Preview the bar on different pages to confirm it appears where you expect.
If the bar does not show up, double-check that the visibility setting matches the page you are viewing.
