Events Not Showing

Troubleshoot missing events in Google Analytics. Check credentials, app embed settings, and GA4 reporting delays.

Check Your Credentials

The most common issue is incorrect or missing credentials.

  1. Open the Pasilobus Google Analytics app

  2. Verify your Measurement ID starts with G- and matches your GA4 property

  3. Verify your API Secret is correct (you may need to create a new one to confirm)

Verify in GA4

  1. Select your property

  2. Go to Admin > Data Streams

  3. Click your web stream

  4. Confirm the Measurement ID matches what’s in the app

Create a New API Secret

If unsure about your API secret:

  1. In GA4, go to Admin > Data Streams > Your stream

  2. Click Measurement Protocol API secrets

  3. Click Create to generate a new secret

  4. Copy the new secret value

  5. Paste it into the Pasilobus Google Analytics app and save

Check App Embed is Enabled

The app embed must be enabled in your theme:

  1. In Shopify Admin, go to Online Store > Themes

  2. Click Customize on your active theme

  3. Click App embeds (bottom left)

  4. Find “Pasilobus Google Analytics” and ensure it’s toggled On

  5. Click Save

If you don’t see the app in App embeds, try reinstalling the app.

GA4 Reporting Delay

GA4 does not show data in real-time reports immediately. Standard reports can take 24-48 hours to update.

Use DebugView for Real-Time Testing

  1. In GA4, go to Admin > DebugView

  2. Open your store in another browser tab

  3. Browse some pages and add a product to cart

  4. Watch DebugView for events appearing in real-time

If events appear in DebugView but not in reports, just wait—data will appear within 48 hours.

Common Configuration Mistakes

Wrong Property Selected

Make sure you’re checking the correct GA4 property. If you have multiple properties, verify the Measurement ID matches.

Using Universal Analytics ID

Measurement IDs starting with UA- are for the old Universal Analytics, which is now deprecated. You need a GA4 property with a G- ID.

API Secret from Wrong Stream

If you have multiple data streams (web, iOS, Android), make sure your API secret is from the web data stream.

Tracking Blocked by Browser

While server-side tracking bypasses most ad blockers, some extreme privacy settings may interfere. Test in an incognito/private window with no extensions.

Still Not Working?

If you’ve verified all the above and events still aren’t appearing:

  1. Try disabling and re-enabling the app embed

  2. Clear your browser cache and test again

  3. Contact support with your Measurement ID (don’t share your API secret)
