What to Expect
Recently Viewed integrates seamlessly with your store. The app won't make any changes to your storefront until you're ready.
Installation Steps
Step 1: Install from Shopify App Store
Visit the Recently Viewed listing in the Shopify App Store
Click the Install button
Review the permissions the app needs
Click Install
Step 2: Authorize the App
Recently Viewed needs these permissions to work:
Read customers - To show you which pages customers viewed
Read store data - To display your products and collections
Click Install to authorize these permissions.
Step 3: Enable App Embed and Add Widget
After installation, you'll need to add the app into your theme:
Go to Online Store → Themes in your Shopify admin
Click Customize on your active theme
In the theme editor, go to the App Embeds
Enable "Recently Viewed"
Next navigate to Home page. Click Add Section in the sidebar
Find Recently Viewed from the App Block list
Add the Recently Viewed to the page
Click Save
Repeat same steps for Product pages, collection pages and cart page.
Why is this needed? The app block allows Recently Viewed to display previously visited products without modifying your theme code.
After Installation
Open your store in an **incognito/private window** (important!)
Browse 3-4 different product pages.
Go to a page where you enabled the widget
You should see the Recently Viewed widget with the products you just viewed!
