Default Values

Default values pre-select an option for your customers, providing a better shopping experience by reducing decision fatigue and speeding up the checkout process.

Updated this week

How Default Values Work

When you set a default value for an option:

  1. The option appears pre-selected when customers view the product

  2. Customers can change the selection if they want a different value

  3. If the customer doesn't make a change, the default value is automatically added to their cart

Setting a Default Value

To set a default value:

  1. Go to your option group

  2. Click on the option you want to configure

  3. In the Form Attributes section, find the Default Value field

  4. Select which option value should be pre-selected

  5. Save your changes

Important Notes

  1. Default values work with all option types (Dropdown, Swatch, Button, Text Input).

  2. Only one value can be set as default per option.

  3. Default values don't restrict customer choice - they can always select a different value.

  4. If an option is marked as required and has a default value, customers can proceed without making a selection.
