Refine how customers search for store locations

Updated this week

In addition to visual and layout customizations, you can refine how customers search for store locations through Map Search Settings in your Store Locator dashboard. These settings determine the initial map view, distance units, and default search radius, providing an optimal user experience.

Where to Find Map Search Settings

  1. Log into Your Shopify Admin: Go to Apps and open Pasilobus Store Locator.

  2. Access the Dashboard: Look for a section labeled Map Search or Search Settings.

Note that these options are only available in the app dashboard, not in the Shopify theme editor.

Map Search Configuration

Initial Display

Define what customers see when the Store Locator page first loads:

  1. Show an Empty Map:
Displays a blank map without any locations until the user initiates a search.

  2. Automatic Geolocation:
Automatically detects the user’s location and displays nearby stores.

  3. Display All Stores:
Shows all available store locations on the map, regardless of the user’s location.

Tip:

  • If you have many store locations, displaying them all at once could clutter the map. Consider Automatic Geolocation or an Empty Map.

  • If you only have a few store locations, showing them all may be more convenient for customers.

Distance Units

Choose the measurement system for distance calculations:

  • Miles

  • Kilometers

This setting ensures distances are displayed in the most familiar units for your primary customer base.

Map Search Radius

Specify the default radius for store searches:

  • Default Value (e.g., 50 miles/kilometers)

  • Adjust as needed to balance accuracy (i.e., more stores shown) vs. performance (i.e., fewer stores loaded).

Best Practice:

  • If you have a large number of locations, a smaller radius helps prevent an overwhelming number of pins on the map.

  • If your store count is lower, or you expect customers to travel farther, you can opt for a larger radius or choose to display all locations by default.

Saving and Testing Your Settings

  1. Save Changes:
Once you’ve selected your initial display mode, distance units, and search radius, click Save or Apply in the dashboard.

  2. Preview the Store Locator:
Open your storefront to test the updated configuration. Confirm the initial map state, distance units, and search radius behave as expected.

By adjusting these Map Search Settings in your app dashboard, you can streamline the search process for your customers, ensuring they find relevant store locations quickly and accurately. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please reach out to our support team.
