CSV Address Import

Typing dozens of addresses by hand is the slowest part of a large multi-address order. Both your customers and you can skip it by importing addresses from a spreadsheet saved as a CSV file.

Typing dozens of addresses by hand is the slowest part of a large multi-address order. Both your customers and you can skip it by importing addresses from a spreadsheet saved as a CSV file.

Customers can import at checkout

On the address step of the split shipping flow, customers will find an Import addresses from CSV link along with a Download sample CSV link. Uploading a file adds every address and selects them automatically, ready for item assignment. This is available on every plan.

  • The sample file shows the expected columns: first name, last name, company, address, apartment, city, state, ZIP, country, and phone

  • Column headers are accepted in your store’s language — a customer can upload a file with headers like “Vorname” or “住所” and it will import correctly

  • If someone uploads an Excel file by mistake, they see a friendly message asking them to save it as CSV first

Importing in the admin

The same import is available to you when splitting an order or building a MultiShip order in the admin. In the split editor, choose Import to upload a CSV of recipient addresses — each row becomes one shipment, and you assign items afterwards.

Tips for clean imports

  • Use the sample file as your starting point — its column names always work

  • Two-letter country codes (US, CA, DE) are the most reliable way to fill the country column

  • Rows missing a street address, city, or ZIP are skipped, so a partial list still imports the complete rows
