Inventory-aware limits automatically adjust your maximum quantity based on available stock. This prevents customers from ordering more than you can fulfill, even when you have step increments that do not divide evenly into your inventory.

How It Works

  • You set a rule with a step of 5 (customers buy in multiples of 5)

  • A product has 12 units in stock

  • Without inventory awareness, the customer could select 15 – exceeding stock

  • With inventory awareness, the maximum is automatically capped at 10 (the highest valid multiple of 5 that does not exceed 12)

The app recalculates the limit in real time based on current inventory levels. As stock changes, the enforced maximum updates automatically.

Enabling Inventory-Aware Limits

  • Go to Rules and create or edit a rule

  • Toggle Inventory-aware to on

  • The rule will now factor in available stock when calculating the maximum quantity

  • Save the rule

Variant-Specific Tracking

Inventory is tracked per variant. If a product has sizes S, M, L with different stock levels, each variant gets its own calculated maximum.

What the Customer Sees

  • The quantity selector stops at the inventory-adjusted maximum

  • If stock is lower than the rule’s minimum, the product shows as unavailable for the quantity required

  • Works across all themes – no theme customization needed

Examples

  • Step of 6, stock of 25 – max becomes 24

  • Step of 10, stock of 8 – product cannot meet the minimum step, shown as limited availability

  • Min 3, max 50, stock of 40 – max becomes 40
