Installation

Countdown Timer & Announcer displays announcement bars on your storefront through a Shopify theme extension. Installation takes a couple of minutes: install the app, activate the extension on your theme, and verify it works.

Install from Shopify App Store

  1. Find Countdown Timer & Announcer on the Shopify App Store

  2. Click Add app

  3. Click Install app to confirm

After installation, the app opens and shows a setup guide.

Activate the Theme Extension

The app uses a theme extension (app embed) to render announcement bars on your storefront. Without it, nothing will appear.

Using the Setup Guide

  1. In the setup guide, click the Choose Theme dropdown and select your active theme

  2. Click Activate next to “Install App to Theme”

  3. This opens the Shopify theme editor with the Countdown Timer & Announcer extension highlighted

  4. Click Save in the theme editor

  5. Return to the app and click Complete Setup

Manual Activation

If you skip the setup guide or need to activate on a different theme:

  1. Go to Shopify Admin > Online Store > Themes

  2. Click Customize on your active theme

  3. Click the App embeds icon in the left sidebar

  4. Find Countdown Timer & Announcer and toggle it ON

  5. Click Save

Verify It Works

  1. Create a test announcement from the app dashboard (or follow the Quick Start Guide)

  2. Publish it

  3. Visit your storefront – you should see the announcement bar

If your announcement does not appear, see Announcements Not Showing.

Dashboard Overview

Once setup is complete, the dashboard shows:

  • Active announcements – how many bars are currently live

  • Scheduled – announcements set to go live in the future

  • Today’s views and click rate – quick performance snapshot

  • Quick actions – create from a blank slate, generate with AI, or browse templates
