Confirmation Styles

When a customer adds an item to their wishlist, you can choose how to confirm the action. The app offers two styles: modal and toast notifications.

The modal style shows a centered popup with:

  • The product image

  • The product name

  • A confirmation message

  • Auto-closes after 3 seconds

Best for: - Drawing attention to the action - Reinforcing the wishlist feature - Stores that want prominent feedback

Toast Notification

The toast style shows a small notification that:

  • Appears in the corner of the screen

  • Shows the confirmation message

  • Includes a “View Wishlist” link

  • Fades out after 4 seconds

Best for: - Non-intrusive feedback - Letting customers continue browsing - Mobile-optimized experiences - Minimalist designs

Configuring Confirmation Style

  1. Open the Wishlist app in Shopify Admin

  2. Go to Settings

  3. Find Storefront Settings

  4. Select your preferred confirmation style:

    • Modal (popup)

    • Toast (notification)

  5. Click Save

Email Capture for Guests

When guest wishlists are enabled, the first time a guest adds an item, they see a special modal that:

  1. Confirms the item was added

  2. Asks for their email (optional)

  3. Offers a “Skip for now” option

This modal appears regardless of your confirmation style setting, as email capture requires user interaction.

After the first item (or after they provide/skip email), subsequent additions use your configured style.

“Already Saved” Messages

If a customer tries to add an item that’s already in their wishlist:

  • Modal style - Shows “Already in your wishlist” with a View Wishlist button

  • Toast style - Shows “Already in your wishlist” with a View Wishlist link

Removal Confirmations

When an item is removed from the wishlist:

  • A toast notification always appears

  • Shows “Removed from wishlist”

  • Uses a neutral/info style

This is consistent regardless of your confirmation style setting.

Best Practices

  1. Consider your audience - Some prefer toast notifications for less interruption

  2. Test on mobile - Toast notifications are generally better for mobile

  3. Match your brand - Choose the style that fits your overall design

  4. Think about flow - Toasts let customers keep browsing; modals create a pause
