If you already have swatch images in a folder, you do not have to attach them one at a time. Zip the folder, drop it in, and each image is matched to the value its filename names.
How to upload
Open Swatches and choose the option the images belong to
Choose Bulk upload swatch images
Drop the .zip in, and upload
The page shows how many images matched when it finishes, and lists any that matched nothing.
How filenames are matched
Name each file after the value it belongs to. Capitals, spaces, dashes and underscores are ignored, so Sea Foam.jpg, sea-foam.JPG and SEA_FOAM.png all match a value called Sea Foam.
Anything that is not an image is skipped, so a folder with a stray notes file or a .DS_Store is fine. Files that match no value are listed back to you rather than dropped silently — usually a spelling difference between the filename and the value.
What happens next
Matched images are attached to their values and become swatches on your storefront. On a large upload they are sent to Shopify a few at a time rather than all at once, so a folder of five hundred images takes a few minutes to appear everywhere.
Limits
A zip can hold up to 2,000 images, and each image up to 20 MB. Uploading again replaces the images for the values that match; values you did not include are left alone.
