Translations

If your store serves customers in multiple languages, the app can display option names and values in the visitor’s language. Translations work with Shopify’s multi-language markets to show the right text automatically.

How It Works

When the theme block loads on the storefront, it checks the current Shopify market language. If a translation exists for that language, the option labels and values display in the translated text. If no translation is available, the default text is shown.

Translations cover two things:

  • Option names – the labels above each selector (e.g. “Color” becomes “Couleur” in French)

  • Option values – the individual choices (e.g. “Red” becomes “Rouge” in French)

Supported Languages

The app supports over 50 languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Arabic, and many more.

Setting Up Translations

Translations are managed through the app and synced to the storefront as part of the listing data. The available languages depend on the languages you have configured in your Shopify markets.

When you add a language to your Shopify markets, it becomes available for translation in the app.

How the Storefront Selects a Language

The theme block determines which language to use based on the Shopify market context:

  1. It checks the current market’s language setting

  2. If a translation exists for that language, it uses the translated text

  3. If no translation exists, it falls back to the default text

This means translations appear automatically when customers browse your store in a different language – no manual switching is needed.

Tips:

  • Make sure the languages in the app match the languages configured in your Shopify markets.

  • Test translations by switching your storefront language to confirm the correct text appears for each option.

  • Translations do not affect the product page content itself (title, description, etc.) – those are managed through Shopify’s native translation features.
